This is a great opportunity to work as part of our clients Decommissioning Team based in Norwich where you will report to the Lead Decommissioning Engineer (Operations). This position is responsible for the planning, preparation and execution of offshore decommissioning activities. The primary focus of the role is to liaise with all other decommissioning engineers ensuring all decommissioning activities are carried out in the most economic manor with acute attention given to SIMOPS and planning to ensure the project critical path is not affected.
The successful candidate will develop and maintain close working relationships with onshore and offshore teams in the definition and delivery of this work. Management of the interface between operations and decommissioning is a key aspect of the role.
This is a 12 month contract, operating on a Monday to Friday basis with occasional offshore travel as operationally required.
Key Responsibilities include:
Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental legislation and best practice for all aspects of project work
Ensure decommissioning activities are documented via the management of change (PeMOC) process where applicable
Engineer barge/platform interface and de-interface work packs
Support rig move of jack-up barge between offshore assets
Work with company logistics department to ensure the most efficient use of flights/vessels
Provide operational support to QHSE team during preparation of COMOPS notifications and other regulatory documentation
Support the offshore combined operations team
Support other decommissioning engineers in the preparation and review of topside decommissioning scopes of work, work plans and work packs for process cleaning/hydrocarbon freeing activities
Continual development of methodologies / strategies
Manage design engineering contractors where required & provide operational interface to platforms and facilities as necessary
Support the tendering process and review of proposals
Project manage / site manage offshore activities where appropriate
Liaise with company marine department to ensure efficient use of DSV’s and other vessels, but also to ensure decommissioning plans are made visible
Liaise with operations department to ensure technical cover is available where required, but also to ensure decommissioning plans are made visible
Replace or supplement offshore team as required
Safety & Environmentally Critical Tasks
SNS Maintenance Management System Ensure all Maintenance activities and all data to be recorded against Safety Critical Equipment within the Maintenance Management System is submitted in an accurate and timely manner.
Knowledge of engineering, project management principles, planning, logistics and relevant legislation
Significant operational experience in the oil and gas industry
Onshore / Offshore experience of Gas production/decommissioning/construction operations
Familiar with jack-up and rig move/marine operations in the SNS
Must be confident to challenge the ‘norm’ and be able to facilitate change where the tasks are complex, unclear or uncertain.
A successful candidate will a ‘can do’ attitude, whilst not being afraid to stop something which may harm personnel, or the budget.
Decommissioning is still relatively new and requires innovative, out-of-the-box thinking, as the department strives for safety and efficiency.
Excellent communication skills are essential to ensuring decommissioning activities are both visible and understood by the overall company operation.
